I liked the premise, and the writing isn't bad, but it reads very amateur. What I man by that, is a tendency to show not tell. Descriptions and dialogue are brief, time lapses with vague interspersed moments of detail. Some like this, especially if you enjoy skimming stories, but largely, it is something that makes me think of lazy writing. Due to the tone, lack of detail, and weak plot structure, I head to give a weak reading. By tone, I mean poor sentence structure. The words my love, as an example, will be used repeatedly in a short time, things like this make the reading choppy and are unusually caught in a proofread--essentially it's just poor sentence structure on top of poor pacing. I will delete this book and avoid this author. As far as domestic discipline goes, it is tastefully done, though there is one sex scene the heroine specifically says no to, but he keeps going that was really brief, but certainly crosses some boundaries.Product details

Great story filled with romance suspense and action The plot is well written and keeps you turning the pages wondering what will happen next This is a must read
This is not my normal read, I'm not a huge historical fan, but I was quickly sucked in by this story. I loved Clarissa's character, her spunk and quick wit were great.
Marshall Luke is what I imagine every woman's dream guy would be back in the day and his naughty slightly dominant side was quite captivating.
I love reading about the old west and Isabella Kole's books and this new one is wonderful. Marshal Luke Prescott became a widower after his pregnant young wife was murdered. He moved to a new town after five years of trying to find the murderer. Then a heiress named Clarissa comes to town to be the new school teacher. She is a beautiful feisty woman and Luke is attracted to her. The book covers many subjects, love, romance, suspence, mystery, violence, spanking and more. This was an awesome read.

I enjoyed a lot about this story. It was the story of Clarissa and Marshal Luke. Clarissa was
an heiress who decides to become a school marm in a small Kansas town. Marshal Luke is
asked to watch over her and keep her safe by her father. They discover that they enjoy each
others company and fall in love.
Marshal Luke is trying to catch the bank robbing gang and solve the mystery of his first wife and
child’s death before he can marry Clarissa.
The story at the end, was complete. There are pre marital sexual scenes that were not overly graphic,
but still a bit racy. He does take her virginity. The spankings were three mild spankings by hand.
There is a happy ending, with no unanswered questions.
I so enjoy a good western and this one was great. There is danger, suspense, romance, love and discipline. Clarissa is feisty but she meets her match with Luke and the sparks certainly fly. Great plot that was believable and drew me in from page one. Great read!!
This was my first book by this author and it will be my last. The plot was so predictable and the dialogue was silly. I found myself rolling my eyes at all the "my darling and my loves". I gave up about half way through. It is rare that I don't finish a book that I paid for, but this one was just too much.
This is a wonderful addition to Old West stories especially when it includes spanking. Luke is a sheriff trying to find the killer that took his pregnant wife’s life Clarissa is an heiress who moves to town to be the new school marm. There is a HEA, but I don’t want to spoil the story with details. I recommend this book and I gave it 4 stars.
