As a huge Patricia Logan fan, I was overjoyed to read the news on her new series, focusing on Westburg, Texas, an important setting or part of back story for quite a few of her characters. And yes, as a fan, I was given the trigger warning by Patricia herself, as I'm a survivor of some horrible things. Even having an idea of what the book was about didn't detract from my enjoyment of her descriptive, emotive story. Dmitri's story had my heart in my throat as I dove into this story; Marcus is the perfect villain. When we got to chapter one and "present day," I immediately fell in love with Dylan Yates- he's such a wonderful romantic hero. As the turns and twists of horror unfolded, it was beautiful to have the burgeoning relationship between Dylan and Connor to lessen the darkness. I most definitely cried when the end came, things finally fixed, and Dmitri's humanity restored. I cannot wait to read the next book.Product details

Captive Lover Westburg Book 1 edition by Patricia Logan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed some of Patrica Logan's other books better more this one, but that's my opinion. I'm sure she's a great author.
I did like the story, but I did find it to be pretty far out there. I know that most of us would do anything for our families, but kidnapping? Dylan didn't seem to experience too much anxiety about the fact that he was toying with someone else's life. He never even seemed to question what the outcome would be for Connor. And for Connor to forgive him so quickly? Please!
There also do not seem to be any legal consequences for Dylan after the fact. It all wrapped up too quickly and neatly for me.
Dylan Yates is a good guy. He works hard, is raising his little brother Jared after their parents' deaths, and tries to save a little time for himself amidst all the pressures of his life.
Connor Black is a handsome young man, son of a wealthy family. He is out for a little fun.
When Dylan meets Marcus Tucker, his initial attraction turns sour when he sees the sexy mask slip and the ugliness underneath surface. What starts as a quick one night stand goes south, Dylan bails, and thinks, that's that.
Or so he thinks.
When Marcus kidnaps Dylan's younger brother and forces him to help kidnap Connor, their nightmare is just starting. Will the budding attraction between Dylan and Connor survive what they are forced to do to survive and keep Jared safe when they discover Marcus is a pedophile? And how will Demetri, the young man Marcus snatched years before, fit into the picture?
Ms. Logan has bitten off a lot here with sensitive subject matter. Child abduction, pedophilia, kidnapping, abuse - all heavy subject. But that is the beauty of this book I think - not every book should be light and fluffy. There are plenty of them around, and I like reading them as well as the next guy. But sometimes, I like to see an author take a chance and go to the "dark side". This story moves along at a good clip, with Marcus (and maybe Connor) maybe the only morally certain characters. I like that Dylan and Demetri are shades of gray and victims of circumstances at best, cowards at worst.
This is not a fun read. The sex is hot, and the bond that forms between Connor and Dylan - is it Stockholm Syndrome or real love? Can Demetri be redeemed, or have the years of abuse killed his spirit? But again, not every read is meant to be fun.
I applaud the risks Ms. Logan took here. I found myself squirming as often as not as I thought about what I would do if faced with the choices Dylan is forced to make. And that is the sign of a good book - when you are forced to think beyond the obvious.
Good job, Ms. Logan. Keep taking these risks. Top ratings for the risks involved.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. Patricia Logan has written a superbly crafted tale that seamlessly combines horror, drama, courage and sacrifice into a very compelling story that pulls you in and doesn't let you go until the very last page.
A very good story, Ms. Logan you wrote another good book about Westburg, Texas. Dylan's little brother is kidnapped, and the only way he can get his brother back is to kidnap Connor. They come upon another case that is eight years old. You must read this story I know you will enjoy it.
Fantastic dramatic romance that has a few main twists between the two main characters that keep fueling the story on!
