THE FIRST BOOK IN THE SERIES WAS CLASSIFIED AS YOUNG ADULT, AND ALTHOUGH THIS STORY IS SET SEVERAL YEARS LATER WITH THE CHARACTERS FROM THE FIRST BOOK, THE PLOT IS STILL YOUNG ADULT APPROPRIATE AND DOES ...NOT... CONTAIN THE HOT SEXPLOITS USUAL TO S E SMITH'S OTHER SERIES...WHICH I ALSO LOVE. A GOOD STORY IS A GOOD STORY!I FOUND THAT THIS BOOK REMINDED ME OF THE SUSPENSEFUL ROMANCES OF MARY STEWART AND JAYNE KRENTZ/JANE CASTLE'S EARLIER WORKS. IT HAD AN INTRIGUING PLOT THAT MAKES YOU WANT TO READ STRAIGHT THROUGH TO THE END TO FIND OUT HOW IT TURNS OUT. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO READING THE THIRD BOOK IN THE SERIES AND TOUCHING BASE AGAIN WITH SOME VERY CHARMING AND INTRIGUING CHARACTERS.

Surprise this new young adult story line is awesome. Love S.E. Smith books!! Any genre she writes.
Like all of other S. E. Smith's stories, it catches you and brings you in as though you are there or seating in your own home theatre watching the story unfold before your eyes.
I enjoyed this book a lot. In fact I liked it better than the first book. It is stand alone, but used characters from the first book the tell an ongoing story, so I recommend the first book too!. It is targeted for a Youth audience. I enjoy SE Smith books and this is another excellent adventure.story!
I am not a big fan of romantic suspense, but read this anyways because all of her other books are repeated re reads of mine. Capture picks up in Hong Kong 6 years after Makayla and Tyrell made their trip on the Defiance. Makayla witnesses her grandfather being kidnapped, and she reaches out to her ex, Brian for help.
The book takes the characters through the dangers of the present, and the mistakes in their pasts that lead them to where they are. I really loved the story and how it ended. I hope there is more to come.
In the first book Makayla was a teenager, stealing her grandfather's sailboat to get back home to her mother and friends. In this book she is an adult, working on her doctorate in marine biology. She has just flown in to Hong Kong to meet her grandfather and continue with him on his voyage around the world. But after just a day, her grandfather is kidnapped. Now Makayla is working against the clock with some old friends and new friends to find her grandfather before it is too late. I loved this book. It was fast paced with action and wonderful characters.
This is the second book in this new/young adult series. Six years have gone by and we don't really need every detail of Makayla, Tyrell and Brian's lives in those years for this to work. Being curious, I would like a short story for each but basically they spent these years on furthering education and careers. Henry and Makayla are put into a life threatening situation, through no fault of their own. The outcome has the potential to place thousands in danger.
It amazes me that S.E. Smith can cross genre's so successfully. This is a good international type thriller-suspense with nothing paranormal and I am going to be waiting for the next book.
I've admired Makayla's character since we first encountered her in "Voyage of the Defiance." Her grandfather, Henry, is also a sterling personality. Makayla is 22 now. The situation in which she and Henry become embroiled in Hong Kong is frightful, yet, she struggles on in the hopes of getting Henry back safe and sound. Thankfully, she has people in a position to help. The plot has innumerable twists and turns; enough to keep me reading most of the night! Intrigue abounds things are not what they seem! It seems we're not yet done with these fascinating characters. Thankfully, readers are not left hanging. I will eagerly wait for the next book!
